A Stitch In Time Saves Nine

"A Stitch In Time Saves Nine" is a three-part series showing the progression of what not following this metaphor looks like. The first part here is a white shirt to represent a clean slate, with one stitch being performed. Symbolizing taking care of life as it comes to not allow such to become overwhelming. This ritual is so important for maintaining a healthy relationship with oneself.

Part two shows the shirt slowly transforming into an unraveled state. The stitches are becoming loose, and the shirt is falling open. Often, when struggling with anxiety, it is hard to keep up with the pace of life. If left unchecked, things start to fall out of place, and the more stitches that are put off, the harder it is to sew life back together. The stain is now seeping into the shirt, slowly becoming unclean. This symbolizes the in-between process of slowly falling behind in life.

Lastly, part three shows the moment I reach rock bottom, where so many seams have become undone, and it is at this moment that it feels that there is no return. When looking back at the first stage, it looks so simple. Why didn't I just do the one stitch in the first place? Now it seems almost impossible. I see this series as a cycle where, at this point, I work so hard to get back to the first stage, but time and time again, the same patterns unfold.
